The Shaper

Shaped by place and purpose

Aotea Shapes is a small-batch snowboard workshop in Darfield, South Island, Aotearoa New Zealand. I personally shape and assemble every board, building one at a time with a focus on directional shapes that feel natural underfoot and perform across real terrain.

Boards should foremost be tools, built to be ridden, yet considered enough to be appreciated off snow. That philosophy guides every decision — materials, geometry, and flex are chosen to suit the rider, the terrain, and the way they move. Builds are taken on selectively, ensuring each receives the time and care it deserves.

The South Island landscape quietly influences my approach. Open faces and wind-worked snow shape the boards as much as any blueprint. Every board is made with intention, built to perform, and built to last.
